Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partha has said removed BCL president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani can hardly be blamed as they are not out of the system.

He said this while taking part at a talk show — Probash Shonglap — of a London base online television on October 2.

The former lawmaker expressed his opinion on the ongoing anti-casino drives during the talk show of Probash Bangla online television.

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani were removed from their respective posts amid various controversies and allegations of extortion on September 14.

Partha said, “BCL president Shovon and general secretary Rabbani demanded extortion worth Tk 85 crore from a Tk 1,445-crore project at Jahangirnagar University. Where is the problem in their demand as they didn’t go beyond the system?”

“They (Shovon and Rabbani) saw that the Basic Bank has swallowed Tk 7000 thousand crores. Tk 1 lakh crore has been laundered out of the country. Their leaders are wearing Rolex hand watch. Lifestyles of their leaders are getting improved. The ruling party men are swallowing all banks. Then where is the faults of Shovon and Rabbani?” he questioned.
